The typical average car rolling down the road, is riding with a barely adequate brake system. (I said the typical since there are exemptions*). Under stressful conditions, they tend to show their shortcomings - brake fade, pulsation, noise, roughness, etc. All those things can happen when the vehicle is loaded to it's limit or when encountering difficult to drive roads such as on mountains or long downhill grades. - Little or no propensity to develop lateral run-out (brake rotor warping#).
- They are quiet and squeal resistant.
- Virtually no rust.
- They just plain look cool.
- The price to upgrade. Carbon Ceramics are far more expensive.
Carbon ceramic brakes are definitely not for everyone. They are by far the best choice available today when it comes to performance. But the price can be prohibitive for the average driver. Typically in the thousands of dollars to upgrade.
*Most high performance vehicles such as Audi (R8), Porsche and even some of the Corvettes offer Carbon Ceramic brake systems as an upgrade option. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Aston Martin, for the most part, come already equipped with Carbon Ceramic Brakes.
